MISSION MANGAL: MOVIE REVIEW

Space missions have been a parameter of development for any country. Developed nations like America and many others have successfully launched many satellites, but one thing which no country could ever achieve is a successful mission to reach Mars in the first attempt. India did that and created history. #MissionMangal explores the same inside story of #ISRO space scientists and how they achieved this rare feat. Does the mission of making a good film succeed or fail? Let’s analyse!!

Synopsis

#MissionMangal tells the story of Rakesh Dhawan (#AkshayKumar) who is a space scientist at #ISRO. How his team manages to launch the Mars mission with a meagre budget of just 400 crores forms the crux of the story. It takes guts and vision to be able to think of a film like this and that too with all commercial actors. The story may become boring and have a documentary feel to it as the common man is not aware of the technical things that go into the making of a mission. Hats off to #RBalki and debutant director #JaganShakti!! They have made an entertaining film.

Direction

#JaganShakti is a talent to watch out for! He makes a strong debut. He has a good command over the script. It is not a child’s play to assemble multiple “A” list actors and give them equal footage in a movie. #JaganShakti does it with complete maturity. A perfect debut indeed! His direction is matured, entertaining, and keeps you hooked from scene first to last!

Technical Department

The real hero of the film is the screenplay! The script and screenplay are water-tight, and there is hardly any dull moment in the film. The introduction of characters and their background is well captured. Post interval the film loses plot somewhat, but soon it gains momentum. Cinematography by #RaviVarman is good, and he has kept every frame very simple. Editing by Chandan Arora is razor-sharp.

Performances

If there is an actor who is getting polished in every film and becoming better than the best, it’s one and only #AkshayKumar! This man is unstoppable! Akshay has carved a niche for himself and hats off to him to take up subjects which are not viable commercially on paper. He puts his hard work and sweat into it and comes out with flying colours. #MissionMangal is one more feather in his cap! He suits the role completely and plays well his part. The film consists of female leads and all have given a genuine performance. #VidyaBalan is surely the lady #AamirKhan of Hindi cinema! It takes guts to play a mother of teenage kids, and she plays her part well.

#KirtiKulhari, #TaapseePannu, #SonakshiSinha, and #NithyaMenen support well. It was a treat to watch #SanjayKapoor. He is a gem yet to be explored fully. Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub and Purab Kohli act well in cameo roles. #SharmanJoshi gives ample laughter. H.G. Dattatreya acts well. It’s good to see veteran actors like #DalipTahil and #VikramGokhale in a single frame. They both, as usual, are best in their parts.

WMR Verdict

#MissionMangal is a perfect gift from filmmakers this weekend! It’s a perfect family film, and we will feel proud of India and ISRO! A must watch! Don’t miss this one! This one could easily be one of the highest grosser of #AkshayKumar!
