Defeat is not the end! Stop trying is the defeat!
There is a real incident in #AnupamKher’s life. When he was young, he used to live in Shimla. It was his 10th result, and his dad went to see the result. When he came back home, he told that lets go out for dinner today. They belonged to very normal ordinary middle class family and going out in hotel was a luxury! After everyone finished the dinner, young #AnupamKher was super excited and asked that how much I have scored that you are giving such a party with ice-cream! Dad said, "Beta, tum fail hue ho!"and Anupam started crying loudly! But his dad told, "Maine yeh party isiliye di hai ki tujhe yeh samaj main aaye ki yeh jeevan ka end nahi hai! Learn to celebrate failures!"
That’s the essence of the film: #Chhichhore!! Does #NiteshTiwari score again after #Dangal or he falters flat? Let’s analyse.
Synopsis
#Chhichhore tells a story of a father whose only child tries to commit suicide as he is not selected for JEE entrance. How his father motivates him in ICU through stories of his college friends forms the crux of the film.
First things first! You need patience and a sound state of mind as a filmmaker to make your next film if your previous film is one of the biggest blockbusters of Indian cinema. Hats off to #NiteshTiwari that he fully focuses on his script and emotional appeal which is his USP rather than becoming one film wonder as many filmmakers become after giving hit films at the box office.
Direction
#NiteshTiwari is a genius at his art!! He again proves it in bold letters that you don’t need big budgets, big stars, lavish sets or breathtaking songs to make a good film. What you need are a strong script, great performances and perfect balance of emotions in screenplay. #NiteshTiwari once again proves that he has complete hold on the craft.
Technical Department
The real heroes of the film are the writers #Nitesh Tiwari, #Nikhil Mehrotra and #Piyush Gupta! The film hardly has any dull moment. The screenplay is water-tight and will keep you on the edge on your seat. Even the songs (though they are not so good) do not hamper the pace of the film. The film moves on from the past to present frequently but you can relate to it thanks to the editor #CharuShreeRoy who does a wonderful job as editor. The editor plays an important role in this type of films (Eg. #RangDeBasanti). Cinematography by #AmalenduChaudhary is apt. The only problem is with the makeup department, especially the older #SushantSinghRajput whose looks aren't convincing.
Music
Music by #Pritam is a letdown, and the film could have gained more momentum if the songs were good as they were in the movie #Dangal. Lyrics by #AmitabhBhattacharya are inspirational and apt.
Performances
The other hero of the film is the casting director #MukeshChhabra. This man is the real johri who can see gold! Every actor is perfectly casted in the film. #SushantSinghRajput (was given his first break in movies in #KaiPoChe by #MukeshChaabra) acted well. He is a terrific actor, but somehow I feel he has to work more on his emotional scenes. #ShraddhaKapoor is a revelation!! It has been her finest performance till date! She looks eternally beautiful and also acts well in the mother’s role.
#PratiekBabbar acts well in his part. Another talented actor #TahirRajBhasin is in full form. #TusharPandey (who did a small but important role in Marathi film #AniKashinathGhanekar) does a decent job. Rest actors also have done a fine job. The real scene stealer is #VarunSharma! He lights up the scenes as soon as he comes on screen. His comic timing is impeccable, and this guy is a bundle of talent.
WMR Verdict
After the epic #Lagaan, #AshutoshGowarikar must have had immense pressure but he made #Swades, a simple tale which still remains as one of my favourite movies. Same goes for #NiteshTiwari as he did not succumb to pressures and narrated a simple story which he had in his heart (It’s like #Swades revisited for #NiteshTiwari). #Chhichhore is a must see film for every parent and their children. It conveys an important message that should not be missed, and we should try to inculcate it in our lives too!
