BAARISH Season 2: Web Series Review

Baarish Season 2 was the most awaited romantic series on Alt Balaji this year which came in 2 installments. While the first 15 episodes take you on a roller coaster ride, the last 5 episodes bring you back to senses. #Baarish1 had become the most adorable series on Alt Balaji/Zee5; however, season 2 fails to hit the mark when compared with season 1.

Synopsis

Anuj (Sharman Joshi) manages to get Gauravi (Asha Negi) released on bail, and both begin to rediscover their relationship. While the love between them grows, so do the problems. A grieving incidence strikes and both go through it differently. While Anuj is on a guilt trip, Gauravi is baffled by the change in him.

This situation distances them and creates space for suspicion, jealousy, misunderstanding, and lack of communication. Both the partners consider the possibility of divorce. Does the couple get divorced or do they walk again under one umbrella is for each one to observe and know.

Performances

Sharman Joshi and Asha Negi's performances hold you to #Baarish2. They both carry the entire season on their shoulders. Sharman Joshi plays the varied shades of his characters beautifully and Asha Negi leaves no stone unturned in supporting him. Jeetendra makes a sweet comeback.

The supporting cast performs well; however, Anuj's uncourteous siblings receive unnecessary screen presence which is a bit annoying.

Screenplay, script, and dialogues

As the series progresses, the plot starts becoming messier, thereby turning this sweet and diverse series into a repetitive Ekta Kapoor daily soap. The writers build a foundation to take the audience to a high boiling point in the initial episodes only to fizzle out the expectations of the audience in the subsequent episodes.

The screenplay, especially in the later half, seems unrealistic and baseless. The sub plots are not dug in detail and remain superficial. Fortunately, the dialogues add more meaning to an otherwise stereotype script.

Editing

The editing in season 2 is definitely crisper compared to season 1.

Music

The music by Shamir Tandon (composer in films like Mission Istanbul and Inkaar) makes the season memorable, and the Dil Ki Gullakh song will stay with you for long.

WMR Verdict

Above all, the way in which Anuj and Gauravi's characters progress makes the relationship seem too frivolous - which is not what they or the viewers signed for in the first place. This discrepancy spoils the chemistry and compassion between the lead pair, especially mid-season.

The entertainment quotient is retained well especially for Ekta Kapoor's drama-loving audience. It is a one-time watch especially for the fans of Baarish Season 1.

WMR RATING - 3.0/5.0
