Introduction
Anurag Kashyap once told that he regrets not being able to give enough time to his daughter and that’s how the basic idea of his film UGLY developed in his mind. It was a story about a daughter who gets kidnapped. AK v/s AK follows the same path. So, is it worth a watch? Let’s analyse.
Synopsis
AK v/s AK tells the story of Anil Kapoor whose daughter Sonam Kapoor gets kidnapped by Anurag Kashyap and how he sets out to find her in extremely complex situations.
Direction
From Udaan to AK v/s AK, Vikramaditya Motwane has always given us gems (except Bhavesh Joshi Superhero). His direction here is top-notch. Initially, the film looks like a reality show but as the drama progresses; every minute is worth a watch! Kudos to the director for keeping the viewers engaged.
What I personally like about the director is that he always keeps on changing genres and yet excels most of the time. Vikramaditya Motwane is one of the best talents we have today and once again he proves that with AK v/s AK.
Technical Departments
Cinematography is brilliant. The film is mostly shot with a hand camera, and it creates a solid impact which amplifies the thriller element. Editing is sharp, especially the last 20 minutes are worth gold. Songs are used in background and they create a positive impact on the proceedings.
Kudos to writer Avinash Sampath for writing a solid script. Background music is good.
Performances
I have always admired Anurag Kashyap as a filmmaker and always called him a rebel who brought a new wave of cinema in India. But after AK v/s AK, you will also become a fan of his acting. Anurag Kashyap plays himself in the film and gives his best performance. Full kudos to him for making a mockery of his own films which looks too funny in the movie.
Anil Kapoor once again proves that he is ageless and evergreen! I wonder from where does he get so much energy?? Anil Kapoor gives one of his best performances, especially in the police station scene, Christmas scene with the crowd and in the last half an hour! Harshwardhan Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor and Boney Kapoor play their own parts well.
WMR Verdict
AK v/s AK is a best Christmas gift from Vikramaditya Motwane! Do not miss it. Enjoy the thrill ride!
